Pro Engineer/The launcher

Pro Launcher The Assetto Corsa launcher that knows how you driveA game launcher for Assetto Corsa that works with your race engineer: it briefs you before the drive and debriefs you the moment the game closes.

Every other launcher forgets you the moment the game starts. Pro Launcher sits beside RG Pro Engineer — the engineer that reads every lap — and uses what it measured before, during and after the drive: your best lap on that car and circuit, what the engineer asked you to change, and a new setup with those changes already made.

A MINUTE OF IT

The front page, quick drive, a race grid, a weekend, the debrief, the garage, your records and the library — the program as it draws itself, page after page.

WHAT ONLY IT DOES

A launcher's job ends when the game starts. This one's starts there: it knows what your engineer measured, so the minutes either side of a drive are worth something.

1

The brief

Before you press DRIVE: your best lap on that car and layout, and how many changes your engineer asked for last time — one press from the garage.

2

The debrief

The moment the game closes: a new best and by how much, or how far off it was, how many laps, and what the engineer found — with Drive again and Apply in the garage.

3

The engineer's setup, applied

What the engineer said becomes a new setup: the right setting, the right number of clicks, in the car's own units — saved beside the old one, never over it.

4

Your engineer, started for you

Offered first, started with the game in the right order beside anything else you run, and never started twice. It stays open after the game unless you ask it to close.

5

Every circuit drawn

Drawn from the line the game's own AI drives — even a mod that ships no map — with a light running round it.

6

A grid you can see

Race the game's drivers from a grid laid out two by two, and press a slot to start there.

BEFORE AND AFTER A DRIVE

Pro Launcher's quick drive page with the brief: the Ferrari 599XX EVO, Black Cat County drawn from the AI line, and the engineer's three changes waiting
Before. The car, the circuit drawn from the AI's own line, and three changes the engineer is waiting for you to make.
The debrief card after a session: four laps, no timed lap, and the engineer's findings on tyre temperatures and pressures, with buttons to drive again or apply the changes in the garage
After. Four laps, none of them timed, and seven things the engineer found — cold tyres, pressures 3 psi under target — with the button that turns them into a setup.
The garage comparing two setups: the engineer's pressure changes from the last session above, the original and the engineer's version saved beside it, five differences marked on the sliders
The garage. From your last session here: three tyres at 27.0 psi against a target of 30.0. One press puts the change in, it is saved as a new setup beside the old one, and every difference is marked on every slider.

EVERYTHING A LAUNCHER DOES

And the ordinary part, done properly — without the game running.

Quick drive

Practice, a race against the AI, a race weekend, track day, hotlap, time attack and drift. Weather, time of day, temperature, grip, driving aids with presets, and your recent cars and circuits.

Library

Every car and circuit with its photograph, badge, numbers and liveries. Your screenshots on a wall, your replays by size. Drop a mod on the window to install it — Content Manager's mods work as they are.

Online

Every public server as a list, filtered, with what you are missing before you press join, the password, and the circuit's picture.

Custom Shaders Patch

Which build is in, fetch another, take it out — and switch WeatherFX, RainFX, lights and the rest of its modules without starting the game.

Game settings

Resolution, full screen, frame limit, anti-aliasing, shadows and the rest, with Performance, Balanced and Quality presets.

Search everything

Ctrl K, type part of a page, a car or a circuit, and press Return.

LINUX, PROPERLY

The game's own launcher does not start on Linux — it is a .NET program that needs CEF3 — and every other launcher runs inside the Wine prefix, so none of them can be the thing that fixes one. Pro Launcher is a native Linux program. It runs outside the prefix, finds the Proton the game is set to, and starts the game there. On Windows it simply starts it.

The patch, working

Custom Shaders Patch is a dwrite.dll that Wine ignores unless told otherwise. The launcher tells it, every time, and leaves any override you set yourself alone.

Not a black screen

Under Proton, WeatherFX cannot compile its shaders and the whole picture comes out nearly black. The launcher fetches Microsoft's own compiler once, checks it, and the game is lit again.

Fonts it asks for

The patch refuses to start without Verdana and Segoe UI, which a Proton prefix does not have. Free fonts of the same shape are put where the patch looks — nothing to install.

Telemetry across the prefix

The game's shared memory never leaves Wine on its own. The bridge that carries it out starts with the game — solo or on a server — so the engineer reads every lap.

Servers that list

The public lobby answers only the game's own client. The launcher asks the way the game does, so all nine thousand servers are there, refreshed and filtered.

Nothing to set up

No winetricks, no launch options, no copying files into a prefix. Download it, press DRIVE.

Every page draws in under a millisecond in a release build, measured by a test on every page. With nothing moving, an idle window asks for no frames at all. Nothing reads the disk while a frame is drawn, and it opens in a light theme too.

BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD

Do I need RG Pro Engineer? No, but it is the point

No. Without it Pro Launcher is a fast launcher with quick drive, races, weekends, the library, online servers, the patch and the game's settings. With it, the brief, the debrief, your records and the engineer's setups come alive — the launcher offers to fetch it, and starts it with the game once it is there.

Does it replace Content Manager?

It does what most people open Content Manager for — choose a car and a circuit, set the session and drive, find a server, install a mod — and it reads the mods Content Manager installs exactly as they are. It does not try to be every tool Content Manager is: there is no showroom and no livery painter. The two can sit on the same machine.

Is it free? Is it open source?

Free, with no account and nothing uploaded. It is not open source: the launcher is distributed as a binary. The engineer underneath it is — the shared core is public under the AGPL, and LICENSING.md says why a closed program may link it.

Does it update itself? Yes, from this site

Yes. On start and every few hours it asks proengineer.app which version is current, downloads a newer one in the background, checks it against the SHA-256 the site publishes and puts it in place of the old one — which it keeps beside it. The next start is the new version; it never restarts itself, and never while the game is running. Both switches are in Settings, and the question it asks names nothing but its own version.

Does it change the game's files?

It writes what a launcher has to: the session it starts, the settings you change on its pages, setups you save and mods you choose to install. On Linux, with Custom Shaders Patch in, it adds two things the patch needs under Proton: Microsoft's shader compiler beside acs.exe, checked against its SHA-256, and free stand-ins for three Windows fonts in content/fonts/system. It never writes over a file that is already there and never edits a car's data, so nothing it does breaks the checksums an online server checks.

DOWNLOAD

Pick the one for your system. Both are the same release.

On Linux, take the archive. A file downloaded on its own arrives without permission to run, so double-clicking a bare binary does nothing at all. The archive carries the bit and runs as soon as it is unpacked. If you would rather have the bare file, it is here and needs one command first:

chmod +x pro-launcher-linux-x86_64
./pro-launcher-linux-x86_64

On Windows, Defender will stop it the first time. The file is not signed, so SmartScreen shows Windows protected your PC. Press More info, then Run anyway. The checksum below is what tells you the file is the one that was published.

Check what you downloaded. A SHA-256 for each file is published in pro-launcher.json — sha256sum on Linux, Get-FileHash on Windows. The launcher checks its own updates against the same list and refuses anything that does not match.
