Terms of usewhat you may do with each program, and what you agree to
Free to use, every one of them. Here is the rest, in full.
These terms cover Pro Launcher, RG Pro
Engineer, Pro Engineer (the terminal, and the core all
three are built on), their updates, their online features and this website — together,
"the Software". The person who makes them is called "the author" here; "you" is
whoever downloads, installs or uses any of it. What each program sends over the
network is on the privacy page, which is part of these terms.
1. AGREEING TO THEM
By downloading, installing, running or otherwise using the Software you agree to
these terms and to the privacy page. If you do not agree, do not use it, and delete
any copy you have. If you use it for an organisation, you agree for that
organisation and confirm you may. You must be old enough in your country to agree to
terms like these on your own, or have a parent or guardian agree for you.
2. THE LICENCE
Pro Engineer and its core are licensed under the
GNU Affero General
Public License v3; where these terms and the AGPL disagree about that code, the
AGPL decides, and nothing here takes away a right it gives.
RG Pro Engineer and Pro Launcher are licensed, not sold. The author gives you a
free, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and
use them on any number of computers you use, for personal or commercial purposes,
and to pass on copies unchanged — the files exactly as published on
proengineer.app, free of charge, with nothing added or removed. You may not:
modify, translate, decompile, disassemble or reverse-engineer them, except where the law allows that and forbids it to be excluded;
sell, rent, lease or sublicense them, charge for them or for access to them, or bundle them with anything sold;
remove or alter any notice, name or mark in them, or pass off a copy as your own or as official when it is not;
publish a modified or repackaged build, or distribute them anywhere in a way that suggests the author endorses that place;
use them to break the law, another person's rights, a game's or a server's rules, or to build a competing product from their code.
All rights not expressly given are kept. The Software, its code, design, texts and
names belong to the author; nothing here transfers them to you.
3. FREE, AND AS IT IS
The Software is given free of charge, "as is" and "as available", without
warranty of any kind, express or implied — including any warranty of merchantability,
fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, uninterrupted or
error-free operation, or that it will work with any game, mod, version, hardware or
system. Advice the engineer gives — setups, pressures, braking points, lap analysis —
is an estimate from telemetry and can be wrong; you decide what to change and you
drive with the result.
4. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent the law allows, the author is not liable for any damage or loss
of any kind arising from or connected with the Software or these terms, however
caused and on any theory of liability — including loss of data, files, saves,
setups, laps, settings or game content; a game or computer that crashes, stops
working or has to be reinstalled; bans, kicks, penalties or lost results on any
server, league, game or platform; lost time, profit, prize or opportunity; and any
indirect, incidental, special or consequential damage — even if told it was
possible. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid
for the Software, which is nothing. Some places do not allow some of these
limitations; there they apply as far as allowed.
5. YOUR GAME AND FILES
The Software changes files when you ask it to: the game's settings, sessions, setups and controls; mods installed, replaced, switched off and on; Custom Shaders Patch; Steam's launch options; the Proton prefix on Linux. Where it says it keeps a copy, it does; that is a convenience, not a backup service.
Keep your own backups of anything you cannot replace, before using it and before updating it. You are responsible for what you choose to install, remove, switch off or change.
Updates are downloaded and installed by the launcher and the window when that setting is on, after checking the published checksum. An update may change, add or remove features, and the author may stop publishing updates at any time.
6. OTHER PEOPLE'S THINGS
Not affiliated. Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione are Kunos Simulazioni's and 505 Games'; Steam is Valve's; Discord is Discord Inc.'s; Content Manager and Custom Shaders Patch belong to their authors. The Software is independent, not made, endorsed, sponsored or supported by any of them; their names and marks are used only to say what it works with, and remain theirs.
Their terms apply to their services. The game's lobby, game servers, Steam, Discord, acstuff.ru, Google, Microsoft, GitHub and any site you download from are run by others under their own terms; the author does not control them, is not responsible for them, and the Software may stop working with them when they change.
Mods, servers and shared content are other people's. A mod you install, a server you join, a link you paste and a lap or module someone shared come under their authors' licences and rules. The Software fetches and installs what you point it at; whether you may use it, and what it does to your game, is between you and its author.
Fair play. The Software is not offered for cheating, gaining an unfair advantage where it is not allowed, disrupting other people's sessions or getting round a server's, a league's or a platform's rules or anti-cheat. Doing that is your responsibility, and so are its consequences.
7. WHAT YOU SHARE
Modules and RGE documents you write are yours.
A lap you share is published for anyone to view, download and compare against. By sharing it you confirm you may, and you give the author a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to store, copy, show and distribute it as part of the shared-laps library for as long as it is there. You can remove it from the program that shared it; copies others already downloaded are theirs.
A name you choose must not impersonate anyone, be offensive or break anyone's rights. The author may refuse, rename or remove any shared lap or name, and block a sharing identity, at any time and without notice, and is not obliged to keep anything shared.
A problem report you send may be read, kept and used to fix and improve the Software. Do not put anything in one you do not want read.
8. INDEMNITY
You agree to defend and hold the author harmless from any claim, loss or cost —
including reasonable legal fees — arising from your breach of these terms, your
misuse of the Software, content you share through it, or your breaking any law or
anyone else's rights while using it.
9. ENDING AND CHANGES
These terms last while you use the Software. Your licence ends automatically if you break them; then stop using the Software and delete it. Sections 3 to 8 and 10 survive the end.
The author may change, suspend or stop the Software, any online feature, the shared-laps library or this website at any time, for any reason, without notice or liability.
The author may change these terms. The new wording applies from when it is published here; using the Software after that means agreeing to it. A copy you already have keeps the terms it came with until you update it. Every earlier wording is in this site's public history.
10. GENERAL
If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, it is enforced as far as it can be and the rest stays in force.
Not enforcing a part of these terms is not giving it up.
These terms and the privacy page are the whole agreement about the Software, apart from the AGPL for the code it covers. You may not transfer them; the author may.
Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that the law of your country does not allow to be limited.
English is the wording that decides; a translation is for convenience.
